TEMERLOH: A trailer driver who was manoeuvring his vehicle up a steep hill along Jalan Bukit Damar-Lakum, Lanchang near here yesterday endured a terrifying moment when his lorry rolled backwards before plunging into a ravine.
Incredibly, the driver survived the 11am incident and was pulled out by passers-by.
In a 57-second viral video, the dashcam recording from another vehicle showed the trailer ascending the single-carriageway before rolling backwards seconds later.
The driver is believed to have attempted to avoid crashing into the other trailing vehicles and navigated the lorry towards the road shoulder, which caused the vehicle to land on its side.
Meanwhile, Temerloh police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the lorry driver has yet to lodge a police report on the incident.
"Temerloh police were alerted about the accident about 11.45am. Investigations revealed the vehicle was unable to travel on the steep road and rolled downhill.
"When policemen went to the scene, they were informed that the driver had gone to a nearby clinic for treatment. He suffered light injuries on his legs," he said in a statement today.
