KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz said he will not attend the coalition’s supreme council meeting this Friday.
He said this was to allow the participation of components MCA and MIC, following the two parties' ultimatum opposing the presence of Mohamed Nazri at the meeting.
MCA and MIC had alleged that Mohamed Nazri’s appointment as BN secretary-general last September was not in accordance with the coalition’s constitution.
The two parties also said they would not attend the meeting should Mohamed Nazri be present.
“I will not attend the meeting, because I want MCA and MIC to be there. They (BN leadership) can also discuss my position (as BN secretary-general).
“I am doing this because I want MCA to come forward and table their resolution (on dissolving BN),” Mohamed Nazri told a media conference today.
Earlier, Mohamed Nazri was reportedly adamant about attending the meeting, and said he preferred MCA and MIC to discuss their grievances against him in person.
