KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has slammed Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu over the latter’s kissing joke.
Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, said whatever the two opposition parties have agreed on, especially on their pact to collaborate for the Malay Muslims, was not for the government to meddle with.
He also claimed that Pakatan Harapan has continuously slandered the two parties.
“They say tomorrow (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad) Zahid Hamidi (Umno president) and (Datuk Seri Abdul) Hadi Awang (Pas president) will be kissing.
“So what if we kiss each other’s cheeks or foreheads? What’s their problem? Why Mat Sabu keep saying this?
“That is our own problem... we will rise and build a new wall from the broken bricks with the Pas-Umno pact as its foundation,” he said in his speech at the Penyatuan Ummah event in Putra World Trade Centre here.
Tok Mat was referring to a joke that Mohamad Sabu made since August last year when claiming that Pas had received money from Umno.
Mohamad Sabu, who is also a former Pas member, again repeated the joke during the Cameron Highlands by-election earlier this year while making a kissing hand gesture, saying that Pas had conveniently forgotten its beef with Umno for decades.
“They used to hate each other for so long but look at them (Pas and Umno) now kissing. Pas has conveniently forgot all the bad things they used to say about Umno,” he had said.
