IPOH: State executive councillors (excos) here are unsure over the status of the current administration, as efforts to contact Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu to clarify the matter proved futile.
Perak Communications, Multimedia, NGOs and Cooperative Development executive committee chairman, Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim, said he had tried contacting the Menteri Besar several times, but his calls were unanswered.
"The last time I met him was at the Mandarin Hotel (in Kuala Lumpur) the day he released a statement after meeting the Sultan of Perak (on Tuesday).
"I have been trying to reach him, but my calls were left unanswered... by phone, by WhatsApp..." he said when met at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan's compound here, today.
Hasnul, who is also Parti Amanah Negara Youth chief, said that it is business as usual for him until a further statement is issued by the Menteri Besar.
On Feb 25, Ahmad Faizal said that he was performing his duties as the Perak Menteri Besar as usual and that he still commands the majority support of the state assemblymen.
Meanwhile, state Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said that the excos have yet to receive any further instructions from Ahmad Faizal.
"It is business as usual for us. We should wait for the official statement and not make any speculation.
"It is up to him should he want to reshuffle the exco line-up, that is his prerogative. He has the right to do so," he added.
Yesterday, Ahmad Faizal said that he should have enough support to continue helming the state government.
Met at the home of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, he said a prospective new state government could already be seen.
Asked whether the state government would be formed with Umno and Pas, Ahmad Faizal said that the matter is still being discussed and urged the people to pray for him to be retained as the Menteri Besar.
A press conference, which will be attended by all state excos, is scheduled to be held at 12noon at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.
