KUANTAN: Pas is involved in Perikatan Nasional (PN) seat negotiations in Pahang for the 15th General Election (GE15).
State PN chairman Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said the seats talks for GE15 in Pahang has involved all three PN component parties namely Bersatu, Gerakan and Pas.
"PN will contest all the 14 parliament and 42 state seats in Pahang. Early discussions have been held between Bersatu and Pas, and Bersatu and Gerakan.
"PN is finalising the seat distribution formula between Bersatu, Pas and Gerakan but we already have a rough idea. However, all the parties will have to refer to their top leadership for the final say (on candidates)," he told reporters after attending the Indera Mahkota Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) division meeting here today.
The Foreign Minister and Indera Mahkota member of parliament, who is also Pahang Bersatu chairman, said there have been informal meetings involving the three parties but no concrete decisions have been taken.
"We seem to have an understanding on the number of seats. All three political parties have agreed to nominate two individuals to represent each party to sit down and look into the finer details involving the seat distribution.
"Discussions were done in family spirit as we want to ensure the best candidate is chosen to contest...it will take some time to finalise the candidate. We hope to have another meeting before the end of this year," he said.
On the strong ties between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pas under their Muafakat Nasional (MN) cooperation, Saifuddin said Bersatu and Pas enjoyed a good relationship.
"We will accept any decision taken by Pas. I welcome the strong statement issued by Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (Pas President) that Pas would prefer to work with PN....he has made a clear stand on the matter," he said.
On Friday, Hadi Awang said the party has rejected its pact with Umno under MN and it would prefer to work with PN.
