Umno has over three million members, says secretary-general

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has a total 3,391,236 members from its 22,274 branches and 191 divisions nationwide as of March 15, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He said this makes Umno the largest political party with the highest number of members in Malaysia.

"Sabah has the highest membership with 594,631, followed by Johor (452,642), Selangor (426,109), and Kedah with 300,564 members," he said when tabling the party's annual statement during the 2021 Umno General Assembly, here, today.

Ahmad said the divisions with the highest number of members were Lahad Datu with 46,849, followed by Semporna (40,849); Libaran (39,513), Gombak, (38,437) and Baling with 37,249 members.

He said a total 21 ambassadors and representatives were also present in the party's general assembly.

"There are 20 Umno overseas clubs namely from the United Kingdom (eight), Ireland (one), Indonesia (two), Australia (three), New Zealand (four) and Egypt (two), with some of their representatives present today.

"Of course, we also have Umno Siswa and Umno Siswi representatives," he said.
