MACHANG: Kelantan Umno will support Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the prime minister candidate for the 15th General Election (GE15).
State Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said Kelantan Umno also welcomed the recent decision made by party supreme council.
He said the recent Umno divisional meetings in Kelantan have revealed that with the exception of three divisions, the other 11 divisions agreed to support Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri as the prime minister's candidate if Umno and Barisan Nasional win the next general election.
"Two of those three divisions, namely Ketereh and Gua Musang did not support it; while the Tanah Merah division had yet to make its decision," Ahmad Jazlan told reporters here today.
The Machang member of parliament had earlier handed over cash donation to the less fortunate,
He said the state Umno believed that Ismail Sabri was the right person for the country's top post.
"He is among the best prime minister after what happened in 2018," Ahmad Jazlan said referring to the year when Pakatan Harapan was elected into federal power after six decades of BN helming the federal government.
"Ismail Sabri is not only concerned about the people, but he manages to come up with new policies in his administration," he said.
On Thursday, the Umno Supreme Council meeting which was chaired by party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi unanimously proposed Ismail Sabri as the prime ministerial candidate in GE15.
When reacting to this, Ismail Sabri, who is Umno vice-president thanked his party for nominating him.
