Loke prepared to slug it out with KJ in Seremban

KUALA LUMPUR: The tussle for the Seremban parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election will be fierce in the event Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin migrates to the urban seat.

The prediction comes from none other than the seat's current incumbent, Dap secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

Despite the keen tussle likely to take place in the mixed seat, the former Transport Minister said he was not afraid to face any possibility and any challenge.

"It is the democratic right of each (and everyone) to compete in any area.

"KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin) is a political figure of calibre and, of course, a strong 'opponent' (challenger) wherever he contests.

"If it is true that he is contesting in the Seremban Parliament, then this contest will be quite fierce and it will be one of the 'hottest' seats in GE15," he said in a Facebook entry.

"Let the people and voters in Seremban judge and decide whether I should continue to be qualified to represent their interests and voice in the Dewan Rakyat," he said.

Khairy was urged to contest in the Negri Sembilan capital seat GE15 by Seremban Umno Division Youth chief Zool Amali Hussin .

He said Umno's top leadership would see the proposal in a positive light.

The proposal came after Khairy was told to give way to Barisan Nasional deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to contest the Rembau parliamentary seat in GE15.

Khairy, who is also the Rembau Deputy Umno Division chief on Sunday, confirmed he would give way.

Loke is a second-term Seremban member of parliament, having won the seat in the 2013 general election.
