PH mulling of not supporting Budget 2023 - Anwar

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is mulling whether to reject Budget 2023 which will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat this Friday

Parliamentary Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said the opposition pact's stand on the matter was because of the government's alleged lack of transparency in several important matters.

"We are studying (to support or reject Budget 2023).

"We want to emphasise the government's management and corruption, projects that are not transparent such as the problem of purchasing medicines including vaccines, the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) contract involving 5G which until now has not been transparent," he said.

Anwar, who is the Port Dickson Member of Parliament, told this to reporters after launching the book - SCRIPT - For A Better Malaysia here today.

Based on the Political Transformation and Stability memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Sept 13 last year, PH agreed to back or remain neutral in approving any government motions or bills.

The failure of a motion or bill to be approved will amount to it being seen as a vote of no confidence against the government.

The condition, however, is subject to the fulfillment and implementation of the transformation agreed in the MoU, in addition to the motions and bills presented by the government that need to be negotiated and mutually agreed upon between the two sides.
