BN rivals are inciting voters, says Umno president

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional's rivals are inciting voters with false allegations in order to win the upcoming election.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this could be seen through allegations made towards the coalition under two circumstances, which include holding the polls during the monsoon season, as well as "escaping" political prosecution.

"The King had agreed to the dissolution of Parliament and the 15th General Election (GE15) to be held in the nearest time. He had also expressed for the Election Commission to consider the Northeast monsoon that is predicted to begin mid-November.

"This is in accordance with many parties' views that GE15 could be held before the monsoon season starts," he said in a Facebook post.

Zahid added that the Meteorological Department had also denied the occurrence of a major flood at the end of November.

At the same time, he mentioned that his speech during the MIC assembly was manipulated and was taken in bits and pieces to be used for the purpose of slander.

"The real context of my speech was that BN leaders are at risk of political prosecution if the opposition wins GE15," he said, adding that the context continued to be manipulated despite having a video recording of the speech.

He said that people should be aware and digest information carefully, and not be incited by BN's rivals.

"Even though there is an explanation behind every allegation made, they do not care about the truth. They will continue to continuously incite; this is their tactic to manipulate (the people).

"They did it during the last election, and they are doing it again in GE15," he said.
