KUALA LUMPUR: Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador may go up against Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan in the Rembau parliamentary seat in Negri Sembilan.
Hamid was among several others listed by Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) as potential candidates in the 15th General Election (GE15) today.
This will be his maiden entry into politics after retiring from public service in May 2021.
He now owns a farm.
This will also be Mohamad's first time contesting in a parliamentary seat.
He has held on to his Rantau state seat since 2004.
The Rembau seat was previously held by caretaker Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, a seat he had defended for three terms.
Khairy was told on Sept 3 to make way for Mohamad, who is also Rembau Umno division chief.
It was reported that Khairy still does not know where he would be fielded in the upcoming polls.
