PH confirms Anwar is PM candidate

IPOH: Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been nominated by the coalition as its prime ministerial candidate in the 15th General Election (GE15).

PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced this during the PH Convention at Ipoh Convention Centre (ICC) here today.

"The decision was made during the party's retreat in Port Dickson and Seremban in Negri Sembilan.

"As we are gearing up to face the GE15, PH has offered Malaysians one name as candidate for prime minister, which is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," he said.

Saifuddin said Anwar was officially picked as the prime minister candidate for PH due to the latter's high spirit despite being humiliated and jailed for so many years.

"This leader (Anwar) suffered for 11 years in prison, 11 years of being humiliated but his spirit and support to the party as well as the coalition have never ceased," he said.
