GUA MUSANG : Some 10,000 Orang Asli voters will determine who will become the member of Parliament for Gua Musang in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, who is defending the parliamentary seat, said the Orang Asli are loyal to the elected leaders.
"There were external attempts to divide them up but that had been futile.
"I believe in them. Even if they were joking, I believe them. They never break their promises. They mean what they say.
"There was an attempt to persuade them, just to split them a little.
"So, they are still the decider," he said when met after the Orang Asli district voting centre course closing ceremony at Kesedar Inn here today.
Tengku Razaleigh said the number of Orang Asli voters is also increasing. "If they are with us, they will ensure us the seat," he added.
Meanwhile, the Orang Asli Pos Hendrop village chief Bidi Ronggeng said Tengku Razaleigh's services in the constituency cannot be denied.
The Orang Asli community in Gua Musang is appreciative of the work done by "Ku Li", the name they know him by.
"Ku Li's many services to us, his struggle as Member of Parliament for Gua Musang, allowed us the Orang Asli community to get better education, and basic facilities such as water and electricity supplies. In the interiors, houses were built for us.
"Even before the start of the monsoon season, food baskets were distributed to us in the rural areas such as Pos Gob and Pos Simpor," he said.
