GE15: Kit Siang moots coalition govt

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang has proposed a "Make Malaysia Great Again" coalition government made up of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Borneo Bloc under Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

Lim said the coalition would comprise 82 members of parliament (MP) under PH, 73 from PN and 35 from the Borneo Bloc (Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah).

"This coalition will have 190 MPs, which is more than two-thirds of the 222 parliamentary seats and can amend the Malaysian constitution to restore to Sarawak and Sabah their rights according to the Malaysia Agreement 1963," Lim said today.

Malaysia, he said, had a hung parliament after the 15th General Election (GE15) yesterday, and that the country was in the era of coalition politics.

Last night, Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh announced that there was no clear winner in the GE15 as no single coalition had managed to secure the minimum 112 majority seats in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said this after announcing the results of 219 of the 220 seats contested on polling day.

As of 4.30am, of the 219 seats, he said PH bagged the most at 76, followed by PN with 73 seats and 30 seats by Barisan Nasional.
