GE15: GPS sweeps 23 parliamentary seats after winning in Baram

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secured its 23rd parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) after winning the Baram parliamentary seat today.

Incumbent Datuk Ani Ngau won the three-cornered clash for the seat with a majority of 7,339 votes, obtaining 18,399 votes against Roland Engan from Pakatan Harapan (11,060 votes) and Independent candidate Wilfredentika (324 votes).

The Election Commission (EC) opened 12 polling stations in Baram for the GE15 today, after several polling stations there were suspended due to bad weather conditions on polling day (Nov 19).

GPS is made up of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP), Sarawak People's Party (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP). The coalition contested in all 31 Parliaments in Sarawak.
