KUALA LUMPUR: The King has ordered both Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional leaders to present themselves before him at 4.30pm.
The palace said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah felt this was necessary, as neither had the simple majority to form the government.
"Considering there is no one single member of parliament who has the majority support of Dewan Rakyat, the King has summoned both the leaders," Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said in a statement
Earlier today, both PH and PN sent in their letters that supposedly supported them as the coalition with the biggest number. They had also nominated their choice for the 10th prime minister.
"Following that, a verification process was undertaken and the result showed that no member of parliament has the majority support to be appointed prime minister," Ahmad Fadil said.
He said the King had asked for the people to remain patient and calm until the new government is formed and the issue of the 10th prime minister candidate is resolved.
"The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has asked the people to pray, for the country and the people to be blessed and protected from any calamaties.
