KUALA LUMPUR: Umno last night confirmed that Khairy Jamaluddin and Tan Sri Noh Omar have been sacked from the party.
Secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said Khairy and Noh, who are the former Umno Youth chief and former Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman respectively, were sacked for violating the party's Constitution in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Ahmad said the party has also suspended Sembrong member of parliament Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein, former Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan, Tebrau Umno division chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Jempol Umno division chief Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Shariff from the party for six years.
"The party also decided to sack 26 party members from Pahang Umno, Putrajaya Umno division (nine), Pasir Gudang Umno division (five) and two party members from the Tanjong Karang Umno division.
"They were sacked for committing several offences including contesting as independent cadidates and helping candidates from the opposing parties in the polls," he said in the statement.
Ahmad also announced Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin as the new Johor Umno liaison committee chairman.
Khaled, who is also Kota Tinggi member of parliament, replaces Simpang Renggam MP and former Johor menteri besar Datuk Seri Hasni Mohamed.
Ahmad in the statement did not elaborate if Hasni was also suspended or sacked from the party.
