Loke: DAP-Umno cooperation not a 'forced marriage' [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: The working relationship between DAP and Umno cannot be likened or seen as a "forced marriage", but instead as a political cooperation to create a stable unity government.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has hit out at and reminded former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob that the cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) was forged based on the advice of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

"As a former prime minister, does he (Ismail Sabri) want to see cracks and divisions within the unity government.

"In any cooperation including in the unity government, we must work towards strengthening and reinforcing such a working relationship," he said during a press conference here today.

It was reported in the media before this that Ismail Sabri claimed that the

"forced marriage" between Umno and DAP would not succeed at the highest level of leadership or even at the grassroots level.

The former Umno vice-president said he has seen cracks appear in the "forced marriage" after open attacks among the current crop of government leaders.
