KJ offered 'high post' in Bersatu supreme council: Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has admitted to offering former Rembau member of Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin a "high post" in the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme leadership council.

He said the offer for Khairy was still on the table, adding that the former Umno Youth chief had the experience and calibre to contribute to the party.

"I offered him to join Bersatu, and he did not apply to join. The offer is still there.

"We are not forcing him, but we hope that he can join Bersatu and help us build our strength.

"If he does join, I am offering him a post in the party's supreme leadership council… there are two vacancies at the moment."

He told reporters this after the Institut Masa Depan Malaysia (Masa) Policy Development Programme (MPDP) research grant presentation ceremony here, today.

He was asked to comment on Khairy's presence at the Yayasan Tan Sri Muhyiddin (TSM) Charity Golf Hari Raya celebration recently.

"Dia dah muncul selalu dah (He's come to see me quite often). He had met me a long time ago after he was sacked from Umno, and he asked to meet me, and I agreed."

Muhyiddin, who is also PN chairman, however dismissed that his offer to the former Health Minister was just to entice him to join the party.

"This is not a bait. We know he can contribute. We will leave it to him, whenever he wants to decide, it is up to him.

"He is a very intelligent guy, (he will decide) when the time is right," he added.

Muhyiddin also denied offering Khairy any state government post for the upcoming state elections, adding that they had "nothing to hide".
