Hadi claims Putrajaya restricted financial support to Pas-led states

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas claimed that states under the party's administration faced numerous restrictions involving financial matters that should be mandatory under the Constitution, democratic principles and various agreements.

Its president, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, claimed that the restrictions were included in the issue of granting petroleum royalties which were denied to Pas-led states but not denied to Sarawak and Sabah.

He said that a similar situation is being felt in Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis where grants were being delayed with various excuses.

"All political observers against Pas, including their experts, undermined Pas' struggle in upholding Islam.

"(They are doing this) As if without caring about the problems of the people and their needs in the states ruled by Pas in matters concerning water, necessities, houses, etc.

"(This is) An assumption that is politically immature by nature," he said in his Minda Presiden posting on his official social media, today.

Abdul Hadi said Pas has been persistent in managing the needs of the people.

In fact, he said Pas has proven the principles of integrity and trustworthy governance even with limited financial resources.

"Please look at Umno-BN, which is now with DAP. They once ruled Kelantan from 1978 to 1990, when they were with the Federal government.

"Umno-BN also ruled longer in Terengganu and Kedah when they had all the financial facilities.

"Why have the problems persisted and not been solved?" he questioned.

He insisted that when Pas took over the administration of these states, it was treated with many restrictions or delayed bureaucracy.

"They did not do that to Singapore when they were in Malaysia before, and recently to Penang," he said

Abdul Hadi, who is also the Marang Member of Parliament, insisted that Pas would not forget what the Federal government is doing now because the party is not a Malay that easily forgets.

He said Pas started acting in 1990 by closing gambling premises and permitting the sale of alcohol to non-Muslims only.

"The licence for this is under the Finance Ministry, whose minister is also the Prime Minister who has Madani as his slogan, but does not help and does not act according to Islam," he said.

He said DAP was vocal against Pas, even though the measures taken by Pas were related to Muslims only.

"Similarly, when Pas collaborated with Umno to propose an amendment to the Syariah Court to amend the punishment of flogging to Islamic law that educates, and not flogging that tortures according to Western law.

"Suddenly, this effort received opposition from parts of Umno, DAP, and their friends from PKR, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and others," he said.

Therefore, he said, he was not surprised that Umno was now conspiring with DAP to abandon the principles of its struggle.

Abdul Hadi, who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman, insisted that Pas remained steadfast in carrying the message of Islam.

He also said there was no need to be afraid of the rise of the 'Green Wave' .

"Don't misunderstand and be stupid; it is as if when Islam governs, all roads, electricity, water, and housing will disappear because you think Islam is only related to the Afterlife," he said.
