KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth has demanded DAP to apologise for its past statements and allegations thrown against the party.
Its chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said DAP should apologise if they wanted to "soften" the hearts of Umno especially in facing the upcoming state elections.
"We demand DAP to ensure that all their insults, anti-Malay, anti-Islam, racist and communist-centric statements will not happen in the unity government.
"If, when forming the unity government, you can fly to Sarawak to meet with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leaders to apologise, you can apologise to Umno.
"If you are honest and sincere in forming a friendship, then take back your past insults towards Umno," he said during his policy speech at the Umno Youth delegates' conference here, today.
DAP had apologised to the Sarawak government and its people for any statement that might have offended them, citing a "fresh start" before forming the unity government.
The party's secretary-general Anthony Loke had, on Nov 23 last year, met with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg at the latter's residence in Kuching, Sarawak to have a "friendly discussion" and publicly apologise.
