Amanah: Capturing Kelantan difficult due to Pas' 'deviant teachings'

KOTA BARU: Parti Amanah Negara admitted that it is challenging for Pakatan Harapan to win Kelantan as Pas has been propagating "deviant teachings" to the people.

Its communication director, Khalid Samad, said Pas had long used this approach in its movement, and had effectively persuaded the people.

"Pas has employed a race-based approach in its movement, shifting the emphasis from Islam as the foundation of its struggle.

"We realise it is not easy for PH or Amanah to win Kelantan as its people have been 'planted' with this perverse understanding for a long time.

"Pas has mixed politics with religion. It has told the people that if they reject Pas, this would mean they also reject Islam," he said at a press conference at the state Amanah office here today.

Khalid, who had left Pas along with others to form Amanah, said the Islamic party had also strayed from its roots.

"Voters in the upcoming state election should reject Pas and its struggle as it uses its own interpretation of the Islamic faith for political gain and personal motives.

"We (PH and Amanah) realise that we cannot change the current Pas-led state government, but at least, we can be a strong opposition that serves as checks and balances for the unity government.

"Ever since Pas ruled Kelantan, the state has seen few developments and not much change to be proud of. It only has KB Mall and Aeon Mall."

Khalid said Pas had trivialised many issues affecting to the people of Kelantan, despite the necessity.

"With this kind of principle in Pas, Amanah cannot find any common ground to work with Pas, which has deceived the people."

Present were Amanah leadership council committee member Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah and state Amanah Wanita chief Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.
