Sanusi issues warning: Mess with my family, prepare to pay

ALOR STAR: After brushing off claims that he owned a bungalow in Sik district, caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today issued a stern warning against those who implicated his family in the alleged slander.

In a Facebook post today, Sanusi warned them that they would pay for dragging his family in a smear campaign ahead of the state polls.

"Bryan Nusi once said… 'I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.' Mu kaco ku, aku renyeh ja. Tapi bila mu kaco keluargaku, mu tungung. Tak cukok tanah mu lari. (You mess with me, I just smiled. But when you mess with my family, you'll have to pay for it. You won't have enough space to run)," read the post uploaded together with his picture.

For the record, the quotes originated from a dialogue by protagonist character Bryan Mills in 2018 movie Taken played by Irish actor Liam Neeson.

Yesterday, the office of the Kedah Menteri Besar issued a statement brushing off claims that Sanusi owned a bungalow in Sik, as circulated on social media since yesterday.

His press secretary, Muhamad Mat Yakim in a statement said the house, located near the Sik Hospital, belonged to Sanusi's elder brother Budin, who built the home using the latter's own savings from his income as an offshore underwater welder for decades.

Muhamad had said in the social media posts, a photo of the bungalow was being projected "by slanderers and envious people in the social media" with the assumption that the house belonged to Sanusi.

Sanusi held the Jeneri state seat in the Sik district prior to the state assembly dissolution at the end of last month to pave the way for the 15th state election on Aug 12.

It was reported that a Facebook page, "Kerajaan Perpaduan YDPA" uploaded a post with the photograph of the bungalow.

The caption read: "This is a huge bungalow, I hear it is located in Sik, Kedah, it costs RM7.8 million. Ehem.. whose house is it? Wish to know as well… does it belong to an Islamic fighter? It is okay, we shall soon find out who the owner is... Used (your) brother's name... There you go, so much for the struggle for the poor."

Muhamad claimed that slanderers were working hard in the run up to the state election to create a perception that Sanusi had amassed wealth after assuming the post of menteri besar three years ago.

He further claimed that none of Sanusi's money was used to build the house.
