PN can wrest Selangor from PH, says Azmin

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) is confident of securing at least 33 seats in order to wrest the state from Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the next state election.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, said the party was making positive progress in garnering support for the coalition especially from Indian voters and slight progress in support from Chinese voters.

"Out of the 56 seats, 39 seats are in Malay majority areas where there are 65 per cent of them. I can say that we are confident of winning 33 to 35 seats, not only the Malay majority seats but also the Chinese majority seats.

"The support on the ground is encouraging," he said in a press conference after a closed-door meeting with news agency editors here today.

He said the sentiments on the ground among the Chinese voters were on the political instability and business opportunities under the current leadership of PH, adding that the PN government would be able to provide the right solutions to address those concerns.

"We want to maintain Selangor as an economic powerhouse to attract huge foreign direct investments and domestic direct investments. We also want to attract more high tech quality investments into the state," he added.
