Kelantan BN can dream about MB's post, says Pas

TANAH MERAH: Pas says the state Barisan Nasional (BN) is dreaming in relation to its potential candidates' list for the menteri besar's post, which the former has held for years.

Kelantan Pas secretary Wan Roslan Wan Hamat said BN will not get the post easily from Pas, which has been ruling the state for 33 years.

This because, he said, any decision on menteri besar's post is not made by the party.

"They (BN) can have beautiful dreams and it is not wrong. They can prepare any list on who they believe have the potential for the post.

"But the final decision will only be made by the state ruler," he said when met at the launch of the Kelantan Perikatan Nasional manifesto here last night.

Wan Roslanm who is Pengkalan Kubor candidate in the state election on Aug 12, said Pas chooses not to think about the MB's post at the moment.

"We are not rushing and will not announce or prepare a list now as we are busy campaigning for the election.

"For us, winning the election is our priority right now and the menteri besar post can be discussed later," he added.

Currently, Datuk Ahmad Yakob, who is Pasir Pekan candidate, is the caretaker Kelantan menteri besar.

Last month, Ahmad Yakob hinted that he was ready to let go of the post and wanted Pas to find a replacement. The 73-year-old had cited age as the reason.

The former teacher became menteri besar in 2013, replacing the late Tan Sri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
