KJ goes down on ground to support PN Candidate in Jeram [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin went down to the ground to support the election campaign of Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the state seat of Jeram, Datuk Harisson Hassan around the area of Puncak Alam on Monday.

In a video that went viral on TikTok, the former health minister, who suffered a loss in his bid for the Parliamentary seat of Sungai Buloh in the 15th General Election (GE15) in November last year, said that he came to support Harisson because he believes that Harisson can be a good elected representative of the people.

"Harisson has what it takes to be a good elected representative of the people, if he was not suitable then I would not come out to support him," he said.

Khairy revealed that he has known Harisson for more than 20 years when they were both in the Umno youth movement.

He said that Harisson was an Umno youth working secretary when he was an exco member of the movement.

Harisson, who is the former deputy chief of the Umno Sungai Buloh division, had his membership automatically revoked after he announced that he would be contesting for the Jeram state seat under a PN ticket for the Selangor state election.

Harisson will be going up against Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Jahaya Ibrahim.

Before this, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had offered Khairy a position in the party's supreme council  if the former Rembau Member of Parliament (MP) was interested in joining Bersatu.

The offer was announced after Khairy was fired from Umno and to strengthen PN leading up to the state elections in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan.

However, Khairy did not give an answer, instead he asked to be given some time to think about the offer.

Throughout campaigning for the upcoming state election, Khairy has not lent his support of campaigned on stage for any political coalition or party, instead he has continued to attract attention as the presenter of his 'podcast' 'Keluar Sekejap', which he co-hosts with former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan.
