Pelangai by-election: No transport, no problem as Pahang MB helps ferry voters

BENTONG: Elderly voters in the Pelangai state seat constituency were today presented with the rare opportunity to ride in vehicles driven by Pahang Barisan Nasional (BN) politicians, including Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

The vehicles ferried the voters from their respective homes in the Felda schemes and traditional villages to the polling stations.

Wan Rosdy, who is also Umno vice-president and Pahang Umno chief, wrote on Facebook about voters requesting him to send them to the polling centre and he happily obliged.

"Today, I went to the houses in the morning to fetch them by car and bring them to the SK Kemasul polling centre.

"Tok Wan (his nickname) managed to fetch three individuals and bring them to cast their votes at SMK Jawi-Jawi," he wrote, along with pictures of him behind the wheel.

Besides Wan Rosdy, Pahang Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal also helped to drive voters to their respective polling stations.

"I took the opportunity to bring voters from Kampung Hayat to the nearby polling centres at SMK Felda Chemomoi, SK Pelangai dan SMK Seri Pelangai. This will make it easier for voters to reach the centres and allow me to hear from them," he said, describing it as a new experience.

Former Panching assemblyman Datuk Zaili Besar, who helped transport elderly voters to polling centres, said the initiative allowed voters to be assured that they have a mode of transportation to reach the polling centres and cast their ballots early.

The Pelangai state seat polls involves a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional's Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, Kasim Samat from Perikatan Nasional and independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli.
