PN to name Nenggiri by-election candidate tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional will name their candidate for the Nenggiri by-election tomorrow.

In an invitation to the press, the coalition said it unveil its candidate at Masjid Hijau, Gua Musang.

The Nenggiri by-election is scheduled for August 17, with nominations set for August 3 and early voting on August 13.

Barisan Nasional has already named Kelantan Umno Youth chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani as its candidate for the seat.

The by-election was called after Kelantan Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah declared the state seat, previously held by Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, vacant.

Mohd Azizi, also the Gua Musang MP, was among the seven elected representatives sacked from Bersatu for declaring their support for the unity government.

In last year's Kelantan state election, Mohd Azizi secured a narrow majority of 810 votes to win Nenggiri in a straight fight against a BN candidate.
