SEREMBAN: DAP is optimistic that Pakatan Harapan (PH) can retain the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat despite facing fierce challenges, especially from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party made every effort, including collaborating with PH leaders throughout the 14-day campaign.
"We have done our best, and now we leave it to the people of Kuala Kubu Baharu to decide.
"Yesterday, all party leaders (PH) were present, and we have made every effort. Today marks the last day of campaigning, so it is up to the voters to decide.
"However, I believe DAP can retain the seat, and this will be translated on polling day tomorrow," Loke said after launching a new hall at SMK Dato Sheikh Ahmad, Sikamat, here, today.
Also present were the Negri Sembilan Education Department director Datuk Dr Roslan Hussin, and school principal Datin Ramadhawati Wahab.
Loke, who is Transport Minister and Seremban member of parliament, also hoped for a high voter turnout tomorrow.
"We hope many voters from KKB will come out to vote tomorrow."
The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election sees a four-cornered contest, involving PH represented by Pang Sock Tao, PN represented by Khairul Azhari Saut, Hafizah Zainuddin (PRM), and Nyau Ke Xin (Independent).
This follows the death of its incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 due to cancer.
In the State Election last August, Lee won the seat with a 4,119-vote majority after
defeating his three opponents from PN, PRM, and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda).
The Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat has 40,226 registered voters, consisting of 39,362 ordinary voters, 625 police personnel, 238 military personnel and spouses, and one absentee voter residing abroad.
On Tuesday, a total of 97 per cent or 769 police personnel, military personnel, and spouses respectively fulfilled their duty as early voters.
