Rembia assemblyman ready to go to court over jump from Umno to Pas

MELAKA: Rembia assemblyman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis is ready to go to court to explain his hop from Umno to Pas last year.

"I am ready to expose and fight against Umno's bad, unlawful and unconstitutional tactics in the interest of the public and the party's members.

"I am ready to clear this up in court," he said in a reply on WhatsApp.

Jailani declined to comment further when asked to clarify the claim about Umno's "unlawful and unconstitutional tactics".

He said this in response to Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki's announcement that the party would file a claim against Jailani for violating the agreement he signed with Barisan Nasional for the 15th Melaka Election in the presence of a commissioner of oath and witnesses.

Asyraf said Jailani also violated a clause in a statutory declaration he signed stipulating that every candidate representing BN must pay RM100 million if they switched allegiance or became an independent.

Previously, Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Jailani had joined the party in June last year before the Melaka State Legislative Assembly passed the anti-party hopping law.
