'Johor Amanah ready to talk to Johor BN about Mahkota seat'

JOHOR BARU: Johor Parti Amanah Negara is ready to hold talks with Johor Barisan Nasional on the Mahkota state seat.

Johor Amanah chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said party president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu had prohibited party leaders and members from making public statements about the matter.

"As state Amanah chairman and state Pakatan Harapan chairman, I will comply with the president's request not to make any statements about the Mahkota state seat.

"I am ready to hold discussions with Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who is state BN and state Umno chairman, on the

Mahkota by-election next week."

He said Amanah Johor had campaigned in all by-elections contested by PH parties, such as in Kuala Kubu Baru and Sungai Bakap.

He said it also campaigned for BN in the Kemaman and Pelangai by-elections.

"Johor Amanah and PH always strive to ensure victory in by-elections for partners in the unity government."

Yesterday, Mohamad reminded Amanah members to stop discussing the Mahkota state seat in the media.

He said the top leadership of parties in the unity government had yet to discuss the matter.

He called on all parties in the unity government, especially Amanah, to focus on the Nenggiri by-election.

Previously, Amanah Kluang asked to be allowed to contest the Mahkota seat. The by-election is expected to be called soon.

Amanah Kluang chief Dr Mohd Zuhan Mohd Zain said Amanah won the seat in the 14th General Election and contested it in the state election in 2022.

Amanah Youth said it was adamant about contesting the Mahkota seat, even if it means a three-cornered fight.
