GUA MUSANG: South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar) chairman Datuk Zawawi Othman today said he will proceed with legal action against Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan over the latter's remarks on land grants in the state.
Zawawi, at a press conference here today, said his lawyers were studying the case and will advise him on the next course of action.
"He (Takiyuddin) and other Perikatan Nasional leaders have been aggressively attacking me (in my capacity) as Kesedar chairman for the past few weeks," he said.
"Takiyuddin has even likened me to a 'pondan'. Such language should not come from an Islamic leader like him."
Zawawi, who is state Umno information chief, said he had also reacted to Takiyuddin's challenge to address all allegations made by PN against him and Kesedar.
"I am considering suing him after he refused to retract his statement."
On Aug 5, Zawawi said he might sue Takiyuddin if the Kota Baru member of parliament did not retract his statement that Kesedar had delayed processing "thousands" of land grants despite the state government's approval of settlers' applications.
Zawawi said if Takiyuddin did not retract his claim before the Aug 17 Nenggiri by-election, he would not hesitate to sue him.
In a ceramah in Bertam Lama here last week,Takiyuddin claimed that thousands of land grants were supposed to be issued to settlers, but had yet to be processed by Kesedar.
On Aug 6, Takiyuddin responded to Zawawi's demand by saying he would address the issue in a ceramah in Nenggiri.
