GUA MUSANG: Voters in Nenggiri must make a wise decision by choosing a candidate who can serve the community and cooperate with the federal government, said Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
The Umno vice-president said the elected representative in Saturday's polls should also be someone who could benefit the people in the state constituency.
"The Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani is very polite and is a humble person. I can see that he was well-accepted by the community in the constituency.
"I also would like to praise Azmawi's 'very down to earth' campaign. He went on the ground meeting the people politely.
"This is a good example of an election campaign that we should practice instead of condemning people."
Johari, who is the Plantation and Commodities Minister, said this after attending the 'Ziarah Kasih' programme in Kampung Sungai Asap B here, today.
He added that many have shown a positive attitude towards the BN candidate during his house-to-house visits.
This is a good sign to BN. We have leaders who have a good educational background, who are young, and willing to serve.
"This is an example of leadership that we want so that in the long term, we can improve BN," he said, adding that a good image could restore public confidence in the party.
"That's what I want to stress to this young leader, he has to always be on the ground.
"When he is on the ground, he can learn and look into the issues faced by the community and convey them to the leaders above," he said.
The Aug 17 Nenggiri by-election will see a straight fight between Azmawi and Bersatu candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail.
