KLUANG: MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng calls on Barisan Nasional members to maintain harmony as they work to secure a win in the Mahkota state seat by-election.
He urged voters, especially the Chinese community working abroad, to return home and vote for BN candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah.
"It is important for everyone to play their part. I call on Chinese voters living overseas to come back and support our candidate," he said at the Mahkota by-election nomination centre at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail here today.
He said MCA's election machinery was working hard to ensure strong voter turnout on Sept 28.
"Everyone in our big BN family must play a role to ensure victory. We look forward to seeing a united Bangsa Johor. Their support will translate to a win for BN.
"MCA's involvement in Mahkota reflects our collective effort to maintain the state's stability and ensure a win for BN."
Syed Hussein will take on Perikatan Nasional's Mohammad Haizan Jaafar in a straight fight for the Mahkota state seat.
The by-election was called after the death of Kluang Wanita Umno chief Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain on Aug 2.
In the 2022 state polls, Sharifah Azizah won the Mahkota state seat with a 5,166-vote majority in a four-cornered fight.
Early voting is scheduled for Sept 24.
