Mahkota by-election: PN candidate, supporters march to nomination centre

KLUANG: Hundreds of supporters marched alongside Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Mohamad Haizan Jaafar, as they made the one kilometre journey from Jalan Besar to the nomination centre for the Mahkota state by-election at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail this morning.

The procession began from the parking area at Taman Tasik, Jalan Besar, around 8.20am, before Mohamad Haizan, also known as 'Coach Haizan,' 61, was escorted into the hall by Election Commission (EC) staff for the submission of nomination papers.

Supporters present included PN chairman and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Bersaty deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Bersatu Johor state liaison chairman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.

Also present were Mahkota by-election director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Johor Pas commissioner Abdullah Husin.

The weather was overcast, with supporters gathering as early as 7am, while police officers managed the crowd along the route.

PN supporters were also seen carrying banners with halal logos and the word 'dijamin' (guaranteed).
