KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee wishes Sabah Progressive Action Party (SAPP) all the best as the party decides to leave the coalition.
"It is true that SAPP has left PN," said Kiandee.
"The supreme council committee has received their application to leave. We wish them all the best," he told the New Straits Times.
However, the Beluran member of parliament said SAPP's departure would not stop PN from contesting the state election.
During the 2018 state election, Ronald said PN won 11 state seats using its own logo. However, in 2022, lawmakers who contested under PN had switched en masse to become Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah assemblymen.
Both Gagasan and SAPP are component parties of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.
"(For the courtesy) of PN, a nominated assemblyman position is given to SAPP (president Datuk Yong Teck Lee). Therefore, SAPP should not stop us from contesting in Sabah.
"It is up to the people of Sabah to make a decision on who to become their elected representatives," said Kiandee.
