NST Leader: Military powers emboldening Israel

LATCHING on to global sympathy for what happened to Jews during World War 2, Zionists hatched a long-term plot for a land grab of Palestine.

They knew that Palestinians had inhabited the 27,500sq km of land for a millennium, but they were still undaunted, riding on their religious belief that Jews were more invested in the land than anyone else.

More importantly, Zionists were backed by military powers, notably Britain and the United States, to seize as much real estate as possible.

The encroachment first came in the late 19th century, subtly and covertly.

But in 1948, under the guise of the Balfour Declaration and a full United Nations recognition of Israel, the Zionists dropped all pretences.

Their hounding of Palestinians out of their homeland was so brutal that in later decades, conscientious nations classified what they did as genocide.

Militant Jewish settlers, encouraged by Tel Aviv and guarded by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), launched attacks, encroached on land and robbed to now occupy 22,145sq km.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were maimed and killed and many more exiled as refugees, sometimes unwelcomed by their neighbours.

Hamas, the ruler of Gaza, resisted, retaliating in October last year, leading to 1,500 Israeli deaths and hostages.

For the Zionists, it was manipulation that sparked the IDF's counteraction of a nightmarish bombing and ground assault, killing 41,000 Palestinians, 116 journalists and 224 humanitarian aid workers.

Only this time, the threats of boycotts, divestments and sanctions, including filing war crimes charges against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, seemed to rankle the Zionists.

Britain, "deeply" horrified at Israeli military's operation, including the three-day assault on the West Bank, urged the invaders to "exercise restraint" and adhere to international law, while the West continues arming Israel.

The US made a spectacle of its useless peace process while advancing billions more in military aid to the IDF.

In unison, the US and UK said Israel "must defend itself against security threats", which is laughable when the Palestinians are being crushed.

Israel reacted to the censure as an "irritant", while continuing to commit genocide.

Britain says: "It is in no one's interest for further conflict and instability to spread in the West Bank." No one's interest? We can name many interested parties.

The feeble language is encouraging Israel to continue this descent into global hell.
