Making Malaysia a global education hub

LETTERS: Cooperation between the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) can attract international students to continue their studies at higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country.

The Malaysian Education Exploration Portal, launched on Nov 18, would make it easier for international students to obtain information about studies in Malaysia.

MQA's role in the collaboration was to ensure that the programmes offered met international standards, and in that context, MQA always worked with foreign accreditation agencies to ensure that programmes offered by local HEIs would be accepted overseas.

The portal offers detailed information on study programmes at local IPTs and functions as a one-stop centre.

Another factor that can attract international students is the excellent position of local HEIs in the ranking of world universities and at the Asian level.

The position of most of our public universities and private institutions of higher learning is increasing, and more are listed every year.

That includes being in the world's top 100 groups, and all of our research universities are in the top 40 in Asia.

EMGS' close cooperation with MQA is essential because the Malaysian Education Exploration Portal only lists 13,800 courses that MQA has accredited.

EMGS wants international students who want to further their studies in Malaysia to get accurate information and know that the programme to be followed is accredited.

EMGS does not want international students to face problems while studying or after graduation, because the programmes studied are not recognised.
