KTMB vows to do better

LETTERS: We refer to Alan Bligh's letter titled "A missed chance for KTM Komuter" (NST, June 14).

We appreciate his support for KTMB and his concern about public transportation, particularly in the Klang Valley.

The writer's displeasure with our services is also something we acknowledge.

His understanding of the Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) rehabilitation project is appreciated.

Several lines in the KVDT1 projects have not been upgraded, in which for some sectors trains are running on existing tracks, unchanged track crossovers and electric overhead lines.

So train operations have to be regulated to ensure optimum path for train movements and the safe running of trains in the construction sector.

With the work done on projects, the scheduling arrangements of train frequencies will be improved.

In line with the progress of KVDT's track rehabilitation, KTMB plans to provide shuttle services between the Batu Caves station and KL Sentral station with more frequent services and provide connectivity with the Mass Rapid Transit at the Kampung Batu station.

KTMB strives to strengthen its operations and railway system to provide better services to passengers and cargo and freight customers.

KTMB is working with the government to ensure it has sufficient infrastructure, such as acquiring rolling stock, upgrading tracks and using the latest signalling system.
