Beware of TikTok's negative side

LETTERS: Respondents in a recent poll called for the introduction of regulations or a ban on TikTok in Malaysia.

In Malaysia, 2022 statistics show that the highest users were from the ages of 19 to 25, or 39.49 per cent.

This is followed by those between 26 and 32 years, or 29 per cent.

TikTok is fun and educational but there is a dark side to it.

The app has led people to do unusual and dangerous things to gain followers and gain popularity.

Even though TikTok has a security branch that isolates and blocks videos unsuitable for viewing, it still shows viral trends, including some deemed to be physically and mentally dangerous.

Some people are concerned about TikTok's influence on children and teens' mental health.

This concern has opened the eyes of many countries to TikTok's negative influence.

In fact, lawmakers in the United States, Europe and Canada have increased efforts to restrict access to TikTok in recent months.
