Digital education needs more funds

LETTERS: As a vital aspect of the nation's development and sovereignty goals, digitisation is a tool Malaysians have to understand to emerge as Asia's digital tiger and make our presence felt, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil recently.

Schools play a big role in creating and fostering an information communication technology-literate society.

It is the responsibility of educators to boost children's awareness to become more digital-friendly users.

Establishing a digital classroom is a good start. For example, the Education Ministry has built digital schools for secondary school students. However, there is room for improvement. If we look at rural preschools, some children cannot use basic software because of the lack of these tools.

So more funds are needed to improve their digital education.

Equally vital is the teachers' role to master technology-based teaching procedures.

Teachers need to have knowledge about digital teaching because children are exposed to gadgets at home.

Many developed countries use artificial intelligence in education.

This has increased children's motivation to learn. Perhaps, teachers can start learning by using easier software first, such as Canva, Kahoot and Quizizz.
