Stop trend of violence against sportsmen

LETTERS: The acid attack on national footballer Faisal Halim recently has gone viral, becoming a serious matter for discussion on various platforms.

Currently, the national player is undergoing medical treatment and is being monitored.

There are various speculations floating around but the main concern is the trend of violence against any human being like this should not exist in our country.

What is worse is that this kind of violence has happened in a sport that creates a spirit of unity but has been marred by violence.

Therefore, the trend of violence against sportsmen needs to be stopped because we do not want a culture of violence against sportsmen in this country.

In this case, credit should be given to police officers who are seriously and diligently investigating to bring justice to the victims involved.

This coupled with the proactive spirit of providing an additional 1,500 security personnel for a football match shows the seriousness of our police in providing the best protection not only to football players but to all fans of this sport.

In addition, we must instill a spirit of empathy in investigating this case.

In the pain faced by this player who suffered fourth-degree burns, there are still those who dispute and call this case a normal incident in football.

Harming anyone is a crime and should not be taken for granted.

There needs to be a high level of humanity in Malaysian society so that this crime which could possibly jeopardise a sportsman's career does not happen again in the future.

May all matters be made easier for national football player Faisal Halim.
