LETTERS: The residents' association of my area hung up banners to publicise its annual general meeting (AGM) recently.
However, the response to the meeting was lukewarm, and most of those who registered to attend the meeting were in their 70s.
It was disappointing that despite all the canvassing, younger residents were reluctant to become members of the association or interested in attending the meeting.
Out of the several hundred residents in the area, only about a hundred are members.
Being a part of the community, one should change one's mindset, and be more responsible and civic-minded for the wellbeing of all.
My hope is for the younger generation to play a bigger role in the running of the association, for only then will the association not die a natural death.
