'Taman Melawati residents can't go home until slope repair done' [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Taman Melawati residents affected by the landslide cannot return home until slope repair works are done.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council was carrying out mitigation and slope repair works.

"The Mineral and Geoscience Department and the Public Works Department's slope engineering team have presented their findings from today's investigation.

"No further soil movement has been detected."

He said the slope repair works would be carried out based on technical advice and recommendations to ensure safety.

Heavy rain led to a landslide in Jalan E6, Taman Melawati, here, yesterday morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department said the 20m by 20m slope had collapsed from a height of 30m.

Police ordered residents of 20 houses near the landslide to evacuate.
