LETTERS: The United Nations (UN) should expel Israel for its failure to respect all the international laws in regard to the treatment of Palestinians and now also against the Lebanese people.
Ever since Israel was created, many crimes have been committed against the Palestinians and other surrounding countries.
The world is aware of the recent atrocities carried out by the Israeli regime against the Palestinians in Gaza since the 7 October Hamas attack late last year.
Many Palestinians have become victims of Israeli brutalities, especially children, and the same is now repeated in Lebanon.
Article 1 of the United Nations Charter 1945 clearly states that the purpose of the UN is to maintain international peace and security, and to that end, includes:
To take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to peace; to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples; to achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character and to be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.
Every single objective of the UN mentioned above has not been respected by Israel.
On record, there have been nearly 50 UN resolutions condemning Israel for its acts of cruelty and brutality committed against Palestinians, but all these resolutions have been ignored by Israel.
The failure of Israel to follow the peaceful spirit of the UN Charter should have resulted in their expulsion from the UN.
Israel has forgotten that it owes the UN for its very existence way back in 1948 when on November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly approved The UN Partition Plan for Palestine Resolution 181 by terminating the British Mandate of Palestine while creating two states, one Jewish and one Arab.
There is also a clause for expelling a member state in the UN charter. Article 6 of the UN Charter 1945 clearly states: "A Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council."
This expulsion proposal might be difficult to implement due to the strong support and protection it received from the United States, a member of the UN Security Council.
However, such a move will at act as a strong signal to Israel that all their barbaric and inhuman actions towards the Palestinians and others are totally intolerable and unacceptable.
