SUNWAY Property, the property division of Sunway Bhd, has unveiled its strategy to further develop Sunway Iskandar in Johor.
Sunway Property Malaysia and Singapore managing director Sarena Cheah Yean Tih said next year would be a very exciting year for the township with one of its largest projects on a 732.6ha site.
“Three years ago, when we first came to Sunway Iskandar, we had promised to plant a community seed here to help drive the prosperity of Iskandar Malaysia as Asean’s most exciting economic growth corridor.
“Since then, we have delivered our promise and we are prepared to embark on the next chapter of growth for Sunway Iskandar,” she said.
Cheah said aligned with Sunway Group’s commitment to sustainability, Sunway Property intended to build further with two pillars — market-driven innovations and community service-centric township, while driving liveability and connectivity at the core.
These are the two pillars that drove the success of the award-winning Sunway City in Kuala Lumpur, which is now an economic driver for the Klang Valley, a transformation from a desolate tin-mine to a township with 42 million visitations yearly, a population of 200,000 and 35,000 students.
“The aim here is to make Sunway Iskandar a world-class ecopolis in Iskandar Malaysia by introducing first of its kind concepts that would add sustainable value for all the stakeholders within our community,” she said.
Sunway Property had launched a total of RM1.1 billion worth of developments in the last three years and more will be coming up, including market-driven innovation-type of products.
The property firm had previously brought in the first Canadian (Ontario) curriculum in the southern region, Sunway International School, Sunway Iskandar, and built the first luxurious prefabricated homes in Malaysia using a Japanese technology - the Sakura homes.
New offerings will include the first build-and-buy-online homes, the first large format retail village, the first Xpark in Iskandar Malaysia, and the first infirmary for the community.
