Sunway to raise Investment in Johor's property market due to pent-up demand

KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Property is increasing its investment in Johor due to a surge in interest in the region's real estate market, according to Gerard Soosay, the chief executive officer of the company's southern region.

He said that the company aims to boost its investment in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, driven by strong growth prospects and proposed initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and the upcoming Rapid Transit System Link.

"We are investing further into this township and are currently developing an RM8 billion logistics facility with Equalbase in the first fully carbon-neutral free commercial zone," he said in a statement.

"With these ongoing developments across the township, we are confident that our upcoming properties, including the first freehold landed project in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, will also do well during its launch later this year. We believe this is also why Sunway Aviana received great responses from homebuyers in both Malaysia and Singapore," he said.

Sunway Aviana has a gross development value (GDV) of RM 296 million.

Sunway Property has achieved a 95 per cent take-up rate for the third phase of Sunway Aviana within just one month of the launch.

The first two phases, comprising 259 units launched in the fourth quarter of 2023, are fully sold out, according to Soosay.

Sunway Aviana is designed to accommodate the elderly, children, and differently-abled individuals.

These landed residences have built-ups ranging from 1,847 sq ft to 1,988 sq ft, with up to four en-suite bedrooms and two family halls.

The units also feature a 20 ft wide common back lane garden, and an additional two metre entrance frontage.

The design is guided by the Sunway Design and Development Architecture (SDDA), which integrates sustainability, innovation, health and wellness, and lifestyle and new experiences into the development.
