Feng Shui: Glass doors - pros and cons

WHAT are the challenges of having a glass front door?

Not many know the power and the importance of a strong Feng Shui front door. Being the “Mouth of Qi”, the energy of and around the front door greatly influences the quality of energy that enters the house.

Malaysians in general prefer a wood-based or metal front door for security purposes. They tend to feel safer and more protected with doors made from such materials.

Glass doors are common in Australia, Europe or the United States. They could be full glass sliding doors or patio doors. Both styles have a lot to offer.

Patio doors can open inward or outward from the centre and are most commonly used in homes that have traditional architecture styles. Sliding doors come with a sliding screen. You can leave the sliding door open and enjoy a comfortable breeze without worrying about bugs.

In traditional Feng Shui, the main entrance door is probably one of the most important areas of a home. Your front door is the main threshold between the outer and the inner worlds.

Your front door should be strong, powerful and balanced, and shouldn’t be too big or too small.

The door should be able to protect your home and attract, hold and distribute universal energy.

Glass doors are perfect if you want to have a view of the outside world, but there is concern about its fragility. A see-through glass door allows for good, bad and in-between energy to come in — something which you cannot control.

Glass doors also allow for outsiders to peek inside your house, and this could make you feel uncomfortable and insecure.

You will not be able to sleep peacefully for fear that an intruder may walk in. This could affect your health and work.

The front door is the doorway to wealth, so, make it look that way. Feng Shui experts believe a solid front door is better than a glass door as it provides better protection and support. However, it is okay to put glass paneling above the door.
