THE SkyArena Sports Complex located along Jalan Ayer Jerneh in Setapak is poised to be the city’s largest, multi-level and multi-function sports complex.
Built at about RM100 million, the sports complex will have facilities that include an indoor rock climbing, Olympic-sized swimming pool, diving pool, and a football field with running track and hostel.
The 3.80ha sports complex will be accessible to the public and buyers of units in SkyArena — a mixed integrated development by SkyWorld Development Sdn Bhd.
The complex is the biggest component in SkyArena and has eco-friendly elements that reduces energy use to lower the maintenance cost, said SkyWorld founder and group managing director Datuk Ng Thien.
“It is a place that not only promotes a healthy lifestyle, but also enhances the sense of community,” he said after a courtesy visit by Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad to the project site.
The 11.6ha SkyArena with a total gross development value (GDV) of RM2.5 billion was first launched in 2014 with a project called Ascenda Residences. Comprising 650 high-rise units with a GDV of RM399 million, Ascenda Residences is almost fully sold.
In 2015, SkyWorld launched Phase 2, known as Bennington Residences, featuring 580 highrise units priced at more than RM584,000 each.
The project has a GDV of RM447 million.
The other components for SkyArena include a retail mall, flexible shop-office-home-office units and a boutique hotel.
Khalid said he was happy to see construction work progressing well.
“I believe SkyArena Sports Complex will bring up the level of wellness and well-being, and contribute to growing a healthy and vibrant community in Setapak and its surrounding areas,” he said.
SkyArena Sports Complex has won two prestigious Regional awards — “Public Service Architecture” and “Public Service Development” — during the Asia Pacific Property Awards ceremony held in Bangkok this year.
Ng said the company would be competing in the overall International Awards in London at end of the year to determine the world’s finest property.
