KUALA LUMPUR: It was a stroll in the park for the Malaysian men's badminton team who checked into the semi-finals of the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games (KL2017) on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over minnows Laos at the Axiata Arena.
In the opening men's singles match, Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin beat Vixunnalath Phichith 21-7, 21-10 before national No 2 men's doubles Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi saw off Namboun Luangamath-Sengrthit Sypaseuth 21-9, 21-5.
Soong Joo Ven, completed the onslaught when he thrashed Xaysomphone Vongpachith 21-10, 21-9.
Malaysia will play the winner of the tie between Singapore and Myanmar next on Wednesday.
The last time Malaysia won the men's team event was back in 2005 in Manila.
